People frequently ask me why I became a massage therapist. After I got out of college and my group of college friends would get together regularly, I was the one who would give everyone massages and work on their sore necks and shoulders. It just came naturally. It's like my hands were a magnet to other people's shoulders.
It wasn't until 1990 when I met my friend Patty that I even knew there was a school and a legitimate profession for massage. It was also then when I received my first full body massage from Patty while she was attending the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Newington. I looked into the school back in 1990, but at the time, the massage profession still had a bit of a stigma attached to it here. I tucked away the idea of going to massage school for a few years, but it just kept drawing me back. Finally, in May of 1996, I started massage school and I haven't looked back.
After I graduated in December 1997, my business was comprised mostly of in-home massage. In addition, I have also worked out of my home, in day spas, salons, massage offices and have provided a lot of corporate and event chair massage.
In September 2015, my life took a complete turn. At age 50, I got an instant family! My boyfriend and his then 4 year old son moved in, and after a few years, it was time to move my massage office out of my home to make room for the ever increasing number of kid toys! So in November 2017, 20 years into my profession, I finally opened my own office and here I am today, at the Bridge Healing Arts Center in Farmington, CT.
Whether you are looking for specific muscle work due to injury or overuse or you're looking to simply relax and destress, each massage is customized to meet your particular needs. In addition to my table massage practice here at the Bridge, I also provide on-site chair massage. If it's regularly scheduled corporate visits or a one-time special event requiring one or more therapists, I can accommodate your chair massage needs.
